Singaporean composer currently in her final year of PhD in composition at the University of Bristol under Prof. John Pickard. Kang Ning previously studied at King's College London with Dr. Edward Nesbit and Prof. Silvina Milstein for her BMus and MMus degrees, graduating with first-class honours and Merit respectively.
Kang Ning’s compositions have been performed in Singapore, United Kingdom and the United States. In August 2023, accomplished Singaporean pianist, Mervyn Lee and violinist Joey Lau, gave the world premieres of All the bells at once and Memories of a daffodil… respectively at Kris Foundation’s Ripples concert in Singapore. In June 2022, the Bristol Ensemble gave the world premiere of Hues for flute, French horn and piano.
In 2023, Kang Ning’s piece for brass band, Syzygy, was a semifinalist in the inaugural Grimethorpe Colliery Band Composition Competition and a finalist for the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain Composition Competition. Her chamber septet, April Light, for flute, B-flat clarinet, harp and string quartet was most recently premiered at the Manhattan School of Music.
